Teaming up to address disaster relief at the World Urban Forum

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) will jointly participate in the next edition of the World Urban Forum in Naples through the organisation of one of the events. This collaboration is related to the co-organization, in partnership with others agencies such as the UNDP and the UNECE, of several regional Housing Forums around the world (Pacific, Americas, and Europe & Central Asia) during the last 4 years. Dates for the second Housing Forum Europe & Central Asia announced

Four partnering organizations are planning to hold the second Housing Forum Europe & Central Asia in April 2013. This event will continue the discussions on the need for sustainable housing in the region and will attempt to identify priorities for improving housing conditions and changing housing policies. This will a second joint forum organized by partnering institutions: Habitat for Humanity Europe and Central Asia, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. Putting decent housing on the political agenda in Europe and Central Asia

Four organizations hold the first Housing Forum in the region to explore and share solutions that address the urgent and widespread problem of substandard housing.

Bratislava, Slovakia (March 7, 2011) – Housing development is generally expensive and hard to execute, and the biggest issue for many is its affordability, especially in developing countries or those undergoing economic transition. The recent foreclosure crisis has also challenged a popular house for everyone model.
